Ask any installer, and they will tell you that an annual service is essential to ensure that boilers and wider heating systems work as expected. Not least because regular servicing:

  • Helps to identify potential safety issues that could pose a threat to the occupants of the property.
  • Ensures that the heating system operates at optimum efficiency (which translates to cost savings for the homeowner)
  • Prolongs the lifespan of the boiler by identifying and rectifying minor issues before they escalate into major problems
  • Upholds the warranty of the boiler
  • Ensures your boiler is working properly before the cold winter months
  • Maintains the boiler’s efficiency, resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions.

An annual boiler service is a small investment that can lead to significant benefits in terms of safety, efficiency, and financial savings.

What’s more, with a recent report revealing that nearly half of British homeowners do not have the funds to cover the cost of fixing a home emergency such as a boiler breakdown, when it comes to heating system maintenance, prevention is better than cure.

According to the report from OVO Energy:

  • 80% of British homeowners have experienced a home emergency
  • 45% don’t have the funds for emergency home repairs and would need to borrow money to cover the costs
  • 33% paid at least £400 on their last emergency home repair
  • 62% are more worried about the cost of home emergencies this winter compared to a year ago.

With potential emergencies likely to be costly and stressful, homeowners are advised to take preventative action to fix any issues before they become a problem. In addition, investing in a monthly service plan – something that many installers offer to their customers – is a good idea to protect families from the stress and cost of potential emergencies.
